4 Ways to BETTER VISION without surgery, glasses, or contacts!

There are lots of people out there promising to make your vision better without science to back up the claims.  I don’t know if you can trick yourself into believing that this is true, but you do ultimately see with your brain, not your eyes; so perhaps this is why the power of suggestion works for some.  At 4Sight iCare we base every technique we use in science and evidence based medicine.  Here are 4 real ways to improve your vision regardless of whether or not you wear glasses or contacts:

  1. Macular Pigment Optical Density.  At 4Sight iCare we call it our MVP test which stands for Maximum Vision Potential (or Protection).  Multiple studies indicate that increasing macular pigment density (that can be measured as often as every 3 months) protects the eyes from damaging light rays that cause Macular Degeneration.  These pigments (lutein and zeaxanthin) can be improved through better nutrition or supplementation.  Subsequent studies (the ZVF a have demonstrated that anecdotal evidence reported during the renowned Age Related Eye Disease Studies (1 & 2) indeed is true.  In addition to protecting the eye from damage, macular pigment provides sharper contrast sensitivity and improves glare recovery.  Going beyond a normal eye test, an MVP test will measure your contrast sensitivity and glare recovery to demonstrate potential weaknesses and provide the opportunity to improve vision beyond the normal acuity chart.
  2. Vision Training.  What we at 4Sight iCare call SVT-eyes (Sports Vision Training for the eyes).  These eye exercises can improve saccadic eye movements, tracking, depth perception, convergence and change of focus to read the field better than ever before.  Our performance vision training can improve your ability to follow a fly ball, judge where it will land (depth perception) and converge and maintain clear focus on the ball as you watch it into the glove.  If you play competitive sports and you think you have no need to visit an eye doctor, THINK AGAIN!  These in office and at home exercises empower you to take your game to the next level.  Training the eye muscles is much like training the body; if you don’t exercise the muscles they will not perform at the same level.
  3. Brain Training.  Yes, neurological training for visual processing speed, multiple objeScreen Shot 2016-01-04 at 11.13.21 AMct tracking, peripheral awareness, hand-eye coordination, and reaction time are improved with the 4Sight iCare SVT-brain sessions (Sports Vision training for the brain).  By training the mind, eyes and body to identify the visual cues, process the information quickly, and react faster can make a significant difference in performance.  Technology like neurotracker, fit light trainer, and a simple tachistoscope can train your mind to process information at a glance when the pressure is on.  It’s a lot like learning to speed-read, it is a skill most everyone can learn if they dedicate the time and effort to master the skill and everyone is starting off at different jumping-off points.  Your first Sports Vision Training Session includes an in-depth assessment and each subsequent session starts with a 10 minute assessment of your abilities.
  4. Vision Shaping Treatment.  Vision Shaping Retainers worn at night can reshape the eye and provide crisp, clear vision during the day.  These retainers are safe for overnight use and resemble hard contact lenses.  This technology has been FDA approved in the United States for well over a decade to correct vision with the method called orthokeratology, but few offices take the time and use the proper technology to follow patients who want vision correction without surgery and without anything on their eyes or face during the day.  If you would like to try Vision Shaping Treatment, all you need to do is find an office with a topographer and a doctor willing to monitor the safety and efficacy of the custom retainers on your eyes.  An added benefit of VST is reduced progression of myopia in adolescents.  Several peer-reviewed studies indicate this is a safe and effective way to prevent anticipated progression.

So the next time you are wondering if you could have better vision; just know the answer is yes!  You just need to know where to look.  Even if you’ve been tested to 20/20 vision we are confident we can make your visual performance more efficient, quicker, and more accurate in all lighting and postural positions.  Check out more details at our Sports Vision Training page: http://4sighticare.com/vision-care-products/sports-vision-training.
